About the Position

Job Title: Monitor Technician / Health Unit Clerk (Night Shift) – Contract
Location: Farmington, CT
Facility: UConn John Dempsey Hospital (UConn Health)
Unit: Central Monitoring Unit
Duration: 13 Weeks (05/15/2026 – 08/13/2026)
Shift: 8 Hour Nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 32–40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $1,300 – $1,500 per week

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Monitor Technician / Health Unit Clerk (HUC) to join the Central Monitoring Unit at UConn Health. This role involves continuous cardiac monitoring, clerical support, and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and accurately identify arrhythmias
• Measure intervals on cardiac strips using calipers
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Perform clerical duties including communication, scheduling, and data entry
• Coordinate workflow and support unit operations
• Communicate effectively with clinical teams regarding patient status

Required Qualifications:

• Verifiable Monitor Technician experience (required)
• Minimum 6 months of clerical or related experience
• Strong knowledge of arrhythmia interpretation
• Ability to pass a closed-book arrhythmia exam during orientation
• Basic computer and office system knowledge
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Schedule Details:

• Night shift with every other weekend required
• Option for 32 or 40 hours/week
• If working 40 hours, may be scheduled 7 consecutive days every other week
